To create the 2021 ranking, they analyzed corporate behavior in the 104 companies that met their demanding selection criteria, and ACCIONA achieved 90 points out of a total possible of 100. Analysts awarded maximum points to priority aspects in strategy and sustainability-oriented solutions and good results to social programs for local collaborators and communities close to their projects and infrastructure. “The DJSI is a key reference point for the market, even more so currently, when COP26 has shone a light on sustainable business projects,” says José Ángel Tejero, Chief Economic, Financial and Sustainability Officer at the Group. The future treatment plants will be named Madinah-3, Buraydah-2 and Tabuk-2, and will have a total capacity of 440,000m3/day. With a total investment of €855 million, they will serve a population of 2.1 million and will be financed, built and operated by ACCIONA for 25 years, in association with local companies Tawzea and Tamasuk. The Foundation will install a photovoltaic plant of approximately 100kW of peak power for collective self-consumption and municipal use, as a means of reducing energy poverty in 50 homes in the area, as well as reducing the carbon footprint locally. It will contribute up to 50% of the energy consumed to reduce electricity bills for these families, and provide equipment, materials, installation, operation and maintenance of the plant over a 15-year period, ensuring long-term sustainability of the project. The plant is expected to be operational during the first half of 2022.
