INTERVIEW to do that we have designed the new Sustainability Master Plan, a new goal focused on regeneration, understood as infrastructure capable of replacing and restoring what the planet has lost. This idea will serve as a strategic guide in the coming years, without limiting our permanent goal of improving effi-ciency and profitability in all business. On the contrary, as I said before, today you cannot be profitable without being sustainable, and vice versa. Will that innovation become a trend? We want to strengthen the difference and the benefits a sustainable focus provides and put it to work for our clients. Today 68% of the glob-al GDP comes from countries that have assumed the goal of emissions neutrality in this century. Climate change forces us to face great trans-formation beyond the economic and the industrial. Decarbonization is an opportunity for ACCIONA, and for all societies, and the new SMP strengthens our responses in this and other sustainable development goals which will be among our clients’ priorities in the coming years. Are profit and sustainable development on the same level? We analyze it case by case, but prioritizing the sustainable aspects while waiving economically attractive business is not new to us. For example, a few years ago we left behind profitable industrial activ-ities around fossil fuels. Every day the business departments reject opportunities because they don’t contribute to the advancement of more sustainable societies. What is new is that we’re going to increase the positive contribution of everything we do to the goals of the 2030 Agenda. Infrastructure are great leverage to achieving this, and we want to design, build, operate and finance projects that urgently accelerate this change. “DECARBONIZING IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR ACCIONA AND FOR ALL SOCIETIES”
