NEWS EXPANSION OF THE WATER SUPPLY NETWORK IN SANTO DOMINGO READ MORE A HOST OF PPAS TO SUPPLY 100% RENEWABLE ENERGY TO MAJOR CORPORATIONS A €485 MILLION RAILROAD UPGRADE CONTRACT IN AUSTRALIA READ MORE READ MORE In recent weeks, ACCIONA Energía has signed four major PPAs for long-term supply of renewable energy that won’t be affected by rate volatility. The agreement signed with FORTIA, for 1 TWh per year, is the biggest corporate renewable PPA with physical delivery for industrial customers in Spain and is implemented through contracts with 20 companies for periods of 5 to 10 years. The agreement with tech company Interxion, for its part, will cover the consumption of its three large Spanish data centers (65 GWh per year over a decade) and may be extended to encompass a fourth, its digital hub in Madrid. Meanwhile, Australian electricity retailer ZEN Energy will diversify its renewables portfolio with 200 GWh per year for 10 years, generated by Waubra wind farm, and textile group Mango, which aims to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, will cover the total consumption of its headquarters, its logistics warehouse in Barcelona, and 10 of its biggest stores in Spain with 26 GWh per year. In a consortium with three construction companies, ACCIONA will upgrade one of the railroads in the Perth metropolitan network (Western Australia), a project that includes eliminating five grade crossings, building four elevated stations, and implementing urban regeneration measures to create active and passive public spaces. The goal is to help cut traffic congestion in the area and increase safety for thousands of vehicles and pedestrians each day. Work has begun to modernize and expand this water network of key importance in supplying the 850,000 inhabitants of Santo Domingo Este, one of the most densely populated areas in the capital of the Dominican Republic, as well as to improve the supply of water to Santo Domingo Norte. The project, which has a budget of €101 million, will be undertaken by ACCIONA in partnership with two local companies and will consist of building a new module for the Eastern Aqueduct, expanding the existing plant, and creating a new 41-kilometer-long macro distribution network.
