NEWS GENERAL SHAREHOLDERS’ MEETING “ACCIONA IS THE MOST COMPLETE SUSTAINABLE INFRASTRUCTURE SOLUTIONS PROVIDER WORLDWIDE” READ MORE ‘AFRICAN STUDIES’ EXHIBITION, BY PHOTOGRAPHER EDWARD BURTYNSKY, IN MADRID READ MORE This statement by José Manuel Entrecanales, president and CEO of ACCIONA, summarizes the conclusions of the General Shareholders’ Meeting held in Madrid at the end of June, which approved a gross dividend of €4.5 per share. In the president’s words, “it would be imprudent to not protect Europe’s industrial capacities as the leader in decarbonization,” and he recalled that the company invests in a dozen sectors with an investment that is 98% aligned with the EU guidelines on sustainable activities. Indeed, its adaptability has enabled it to record an unprecedented performance in 2022, in terms of revenue (+38%), EBITDA (+39%) and net profit (+33%), among other indicators. He underscored the record €12.2 billion in corporate cash flow (+21%) and the 14% increase in the tax contribution —three times the profits generated and almost seven times the dividend—in addition to the more than €262 million allocated to 185 R+D+i projects during the year. He also pointed out the contribution of the Water division to a resource whose scarcity “will be the source of many crises to come,” in a global market that could grow more than 66% until 2030, and even exceed 100% in desalination. Regarding ACCIONA Energía, he celebrated “its financial strength with better growth prospects, better results, new technological vectors and a greater global presence,” and he was optimistic about the fight against climate change thanks to the growing social and government response, as well as the progress in decarbonization. The Board re-elected Jerónimo Marcos Gerard Rivero as independent director and approved the appointment of María Salgado Madriñán and Teresa Sanjurjo González as independent directors. This show brings together 22 large format works that examine the environmental and social costs of unsustainable development on indigenous peoples, wildlife, and forests in ten African nations, and calls for global initiatives that can effectively mitigate such adverse impacts. Author and curator of the exhibition, Burtynsky is a renowned Canadian artist of Ukrainian origin and winner of the PHotoESPAÑA 2023 award. The sixth edition of the exhibition, which focuses on environmental themes, has been made possible through the sponsorship of ACCIONA, in collaboration with the aforementioned photography festival. African Studies is open until October 1st, at the Palacio de Cibeles in Madrid and entrance is free.
